Have you saved how-to instructions and never used them?
Have you purchased fabric for a personal project that was never started? Or maybe you started it and it's never been completed.
Did you find a stray chair that needed a home and it’s still not reupholstered?
No more excuses. Let’s do it! Join Ceil DiGuglielmo and Susan Woodcock for the 2026 Pick-A-Project Challenge!
You can listen to the podcast here:

How To Participate
Choose a personal project that is sewing or upholstery related. This is your chance to get it done with a group of like-minded, supportive friends to hold you accountable. You can make something for your own home, learn a new skill, finish a project that you partially completed and set aside, or make a gift for a friend or family member. Do you want to tackle a project with a friend? Sign up as a team! Quilting, garment sewing, window treatments, upholstery, slipcovers. Anything goes except - no projects for customers, only personal projects, please.
You are invited to join the Pick-A-Project Challenge private Facebook group. (If you joined in previous years, you are already in the group). Share your project with the group and include photos before, during and after. This is the place to find support, resources and encouragement, and to help others to reach their goals.
If you are using published instructions, please share the magazine, book, online class or pattern and where it can be found or purchased.
Pick-A-Project deadline is July 8, 2026
There Are No Winners or Losers
This is not a competition so we will not be picking a winner but we do like to recognize projects that are…
- First to finish
- Ugly but learned a lot
- Most challenging
- So Easy! Why didn’t I try this sooner?
- An oldie but a goodie
- Beautiful! I would put that in my house.
It is always interesting to see what people choose to make, if there are any trends and if we choose similar projects. This the third year of the challenge and we know that some of you are still sitting on projects from 2023. That’s okay - better now than never. Let's get it done!
