Make Your Own Workroom Stand

Updated: May 26

Work stands are used to hold board mounted valances and shades in the workroom. It is useful to have a pair to support larger window treatments. The following instructions are for the work stands used at Workroom Tech.

To make two work stands, you will need:

Onstage speaker stands, item #SSP7850, two stand kit with top mounting plate*

1/2-inch plywood

1/4" flat head machine screws, wing nuts and washers

Spring clamps

Step-by-step:

1) Cut two pieces of 1/2-inch plywood 6 inches x 16 inches. (You can customize the size to fit your own needs). Sand edges smooth or cover with fabric.

2) Center the top plate bracket on the wood and mark holes. Drill holes using a 1/4 inch drill bit.

3) Attach the board to the top plate with 1/4" flat head machine screws, wing nuts and washers. You want the nuts and washers to be on the bottom.

4) Attach to the top of the work stand.

5) Use heavy duty spring clamps or Quick-Grip bar clamps to secure window treatments to the work stand.
