Build Real Bedding Skills, Start to Finish 
Spreads and duvets are two of the most-requested bedding pieces — and two of the best ways to build confidence with structured, tailored sewing on a larger scale. This two-day class with Jennifer Franco walks you through both projects from measuring to finished product, giving you a solid foundation you can apply to bedding orders right away.
 
Jennifer brings a workroom professional's eye for detail to every step, focusing not just on construction technique but on the fit, proportion, and finishing touches that separate handmade-looking work from professional-quality bedding.
 
What You'll Learn
Measuring for spreads and duvets, including working with irregular or non-standard mattress sizes
Selecting and preparing fabric, including pattern matching and railroading considerations
Constructing a tailored bedspread with proper drop and corner treatment
Building a duvet cover with closures and interior corner ties
Techniques for crisp corners, straight seams, and clean finishing on large-format pieces
Working with closures: envelope backs, zippers, and hook-and-loop options
Pressing and finishing techniques for a polished, retail-ready result
Troubleshooting common fit and proportion issues before they become mistakes
Pricing guidance for bedding projects as a workroom offering
 
What to Bring 
Class work is conducted primarily on industrial equipment provided in the classroom. If you do not have experience with industrial machines, or prefer to work on your own machine, you're welcome to bring your domestic sewing machine — either way, you'll get full hands-on practice with every technique.
 
This is an active class, so please be sure to wear comfortable clothes. In a workroom environment, thick-soled shoes are a must have: no open-toed or thin-soled shoes, such as flats and sandals.
 
Who Should Take This Class 
This class builds on foundational bedding skills. Students should have completed Intro to Sewing and Beginner Bedding, or have similar demonstrable experience with structured sewing and bedding construction. You'll leave with a repeatable process for spreads and duvets you can use immediately.
