Advanced Cushion

Students will learn how to design, plan and fabricate specialty cushions:
- Curved and irregular shaped cushions
- Welt and trim applications
- How to achieve the proper cushion crown
- Custom insert options with foam and feather/down
Class size is limited to 4 students. Students will have use of all upholstery and sewing supplies, as well as tools and equipment needed to plan, cut, and sew.
Students will bring 2-3 yards of assorted upholstery weight fabrics that are appropriate for cushion covers, contrast welt and boxing.
This class includes:
- How to properly measure and template surfaces
- Selecting appropriate fabrics
- Figuring yardage and materials
- Cutting and sewing odd shapes
- Making and applying welt cord to a curved shape
- Constructing zipper panels
- Choosing the right insert for cushions
This is an advanced level, hands on course in a real workroom environment. Students are required to have experience using a sewing machine.
