Would you like to learn how to make custom curtains, pillows and accessories for your own home?
In this beginning level class, you will learn how to plan and sew custom soft furnishings using timeless methods for professional results. You will learn how to measure the window and design with pleasing scale and proportions, decide which style is best for your window, and how accessories like pillows can bring a room together.
Students complete a basic knife edge pillow with an invisible zipper, a sample drapery panel, and stationary roman shade. Included in this class are skills such as matching patterned fabrics; hand sewing techniques; no-sew methods; finishing hems and edges; and applying trims.
Although this is a beginner course, it is set in a professional workroom environment. You are encouraged to learn and sew on the industrial straight stitch machines provided (after a simple tutorial), but you can also bring your own machine if that is more comfortable for you.
This class will give you the skills to start sewing beautiful, custom soft furnishings for your own home.
Basic sewing knowledge and skills are required.
