Custom Draperies: Level II

In this class you will learn professional skills that will elevate your custom drapery projects for the high-end market. You will complete two samples in class, a pleated drapery with french blackout lining, edge banding and inset trim, and a sheer, pleated drapery.
Day One:
Students will complete a pleated drapery with the french blackout method, edge banding and inset trim. You will learn how to work with multiple layers, finish hems, ensure an accurate length, and trim application. Students bring their own face fabric, banding fabric and trim (to be approved by the instructor).
Day Two:
Students will complete a pleated sheer drapery using the “buckram-first” method. You will learn how to work with wide-width material, choose the best buckram type and color, to add weights or weight chain, and best practices for finishing hems. Sheer material will be provided by Workroom Tech.
This is an advanced level class. Experience with using an industrial sewing machine and knowledge of basic drapery construction is required.
Students must have completed Custom Draperies: Level I or have equivalent practical knowledge of sewing custom draperies.

Students will bring their own face fabric. All other tools, materials and supplies will be provided by Workroom Tech. Once your payment has been processed, you will receive an email with yardage requirements and other information for attending this class.
