Custom Pillows: Level I

If you love to sew and want to try making pillows for your own home or as a business, this is the class for you!  In this hands-on class, you will learn how to design and make custom pillows using professional methods and machines.  This is a beginning level class.  You will be sewing on industrial machines but don't be afraid - it's easier than you think!

Class projects include a knife edge pillow with invisible zipper and a knife edge pillow with welt cord and zipper.

Each student will have use of a worktable, industrial straight stitch machine with assorted machine feet, and sewing kit.  Pillow forms with two different fills will be provided for you.  Bring your own fabric for two pillows (at least 1 yard for each).  If time allows, Susan will show you how to take what you have learned and add ruffles and trims in the seams.
 
This class includes: 
Learning to sew on an industrial machine
Selecting fabric
Figuring yardage
Choosing pillow form fills and sizes
Cutting fabrics with pattern repeats
Making and applying welt cord
Zippers
 
This is a beginning level course using professional methods and tools.  Students are required to have at basic sewing skills and experience using a sewing machine.
 
This class has a minimum number of students. Minimum class size must be met one month prior to class start date. In the event the minimum class size is not met, we will send an announcement and determine refunds/credits.
