Are you interested in starting a custom workroom business? In this class you will be introduced to the workroom world! After completing this class you will have a better understanding of what is needed to get your workroom up-and-running, and learn basic sewing skills that will enable you to enroll in other Workroom Tech courses.
This class includes:
Introduction to workroom equipment such as industrial straight stitch, walking foot, overlock and blind hemming machines, grommet and button press, Draw-Matic clamping bar, pneumatic staple guns, air compressors and worktables.
Overview of common workroom supplies such as lining and interlining, buckram, weights, welt cord, shirring tapes, thread and adhesives, and tips for organizing a small workroom.
Essential tools like scissors, rulers, pins, clamps and irons.
Review of shade headrails and supplies.
Sewing basics including how to cut and join fabrics, pattern matching and finishing hems.
Resources and business basics.
Optional class kit with samples of supplies shared in the class. Includes free shipping in the continental U.S.

I’ve been sewing for 15+ years and I’ve learned almost entirely from books, tutorials, patterns, and a couple pre-recorded classes. It was so nice to be able to have a live, real-time class. I’m looking to turn my hobby into a business. Having the reinforcement that I’m doing things correctly or learning that there’s a much better, more effective (prettier, efficient, etc.) way to do something is helpful. Traveling to you would be a challenge (even without COVID) so I’m grateful to have the opportunity to take courses virtually! ~Whitney K.
