Introduction to Sewing Soft Furnishings

Turn your sewing skills into a business!  In this class you will become familiar with workroom tools and supplies, learn basic skills and get a taste of what it is like to sew custom window treatments professionally.

In this two-day, hands-on class, you will learn how to use professional workroom equipment including industrial straight stitch, walking foot, overlock and blind hemming machines, grommet and button press, and pneumatic staple gun and worktables.

 

Learn how to inspect, cut and join fabrics and finish hems. Included in this class is an overview of common workroom supplies that are needed to get a workroom up-and-running such as, lining and interlining, buckram, weights, thread, scissors, measuring tools and tips for organizing a small workroom.  Bring your questions!  You will go home with a better understanding of what a workroom business can be and resources to help you get up-and-running.
 

The information learned in this class is necessary for taking Level I or Level II fabrication classes.

  • There is a $75 cancellation fee for any class cancelled 3 weeks prior to the class start date.  There are no refunds for classes cancelled 3 weeks or less before the class start date but the class fee can be used for a future class, space permitting.
