Build and Upholster a Custom Ottoman

This class is the perfect introduction to upholstery because there are so many skills to learn when making an ottoman.
Class includes:
- Work with and learn about the basic upholstery tools
- Fabrics and fabric terminology
- Building the foundation with webbing, foam and Dacron
- Understanding foam
- How to make neat corners and proper tensioning for a professional and lasting finish
- How to sew single welt cord
- Using tack strip for a clean fabric joins
But that’s not all! You’ll also learn how to build your ottoman frame with pocket hole joinery to build strong and square frames easily. The secret is in using a pocket hole jig and a few power tools, drills and drivers. You’ll get all the tips and tricks to build the frame and attach feet.
Once you learn basic woodworking and upholstery skills you can build a custom ottoman to any size. Or how about a bench? Yes, the same basic frame will get you a mud room bench, end of bed bench, or maybe a bench that can tuck under a console table for extra seating. You can get creative and make a coffee table ottoman covered in a rug! All doable, after you take this class.
If you a workroom that would love to add some simple but completely custom benches and ottomans to your offerings, this class is perfect for you!
Students will provide their own fabric and ottoman feet. Once you are registered, the instructor will provide information on yardage needed and sources for furniture feet. All other supplies are provided including foam, dacron, welt cord, webbing, and lining.
This class requires a minimum number of 3 students. Do not book travel until you have been informed if the class has met the minimum number of students.

There is a $75 cancellation fee for any class cancelled 3 weeks prior to the class start date. There are no refunds for classes cancelled 3 weeks or less before the class start date but the class fee can be used for a future class, space permitting.
