French Blackout Roman Shade with Inset Banding

Instructor: Susan Woodcock

Classes will be held on Tuesdays, 12:00 - 1:00 pm EST, March 2, 9 and 16, 2021.

Take your basic shade skills to the next level!  In this three-week online course you will complete a 32 inch wide x 48 inch long flat fold, French blackout roman shade with inset mitered corner banding.  The class project will be fabricated with methods and components to meet cord safety standards.

The shade in this class will use the Coulisse Twin Pull lift system. (A 15% discount code to purchase the system will be provided after registration).  The Coulisse Twin Pull uses a 1-1/2 inch aluminum tube mounted on a 2-1/2 inch board.  It operates with two individual customized chain lengths to raise and lower the shade with a pull motion.

This 3-week class includes:

  • Project kit with Classic Sateen ivory and black lining, heavy flannel interlining, Safe-T-Shade Forever Rings and Ring Locks, cord adjusting orbs and safety warning labels.
  • Three 1-hour online, interactive lessons with instructor Susan Woodcock, presented live and recorded to review later (with 3-months of access online after class is completed).
  • Written how-to instructions

You will provide your own face fabric (2 yards), fabric to make banding (1 yard) or flat tape trim (4 yards), weight bar or rod (flat bar or 3/8 inch diameter) and assembled board  mounted Coulisse Twin Pull lift system.  (Assembled kit includes pull chains and tassels, clutch, tube, board, brackets, lift cord and cord clips).
