This is a big day for the workroom industry. Listen to an exciting announcement from Susan Woodcock on Episode 111 of 30 Minutes with Workroom Tech
A message from Susan Woodcock and Rodger Walker
Hello Friends,
Workroom Tech opened in 2017 and the in-person, online and regional classes and mentorship program have helped hundreds of people learn sewing and upholstery skills and gain confidence. Many of those students have started successful businesses and grown to become industry leaders. It has been a very rewarding journey and we are proud of the success.
Today we share exciting news. Workroom Tech has been sold to Jonathan Bennett, owner of Unsprung Upholstery and Unsprung University, and the school is moving to Richmond, Virginia in July of this year. Jonathan is passionate about education and creating opportunities for the upholstery and drapery workroom trades. With his background in education, business ownership and teaching, he will carry on our traditions of hands-on learning in a new and bigger way.
Workroom Tech will be in a much larger facility that includes classroom space and an upholstery and sewing business under the same roof. This will give students a realistic view of a workroom business and enable future apprenticeship programs. Jonathan has a great team of employees and talented local workroom owners who can teach and mentor students. The Richmond, VA location can support future growth, a variety of education models and connections with more like-minded businesses.
We are extremely grateful for the students, teachers, companies and organizations who have supported our mission over the past 9 years. We will continue to own Custom Workroom Conference and our Home Dec Gal workroom business and look forward to this new chapter in our lives. Best Wishes,
Susan Woodcock and Rodger Walker
